Fine Friday Finds #2~

It looks like I will be doing a little bit of thrifting on a fairly regular basis now so I decided to start a Fine Friday Finds 1,2,3 etc..
Today is number 2 and I have some nice items to share with you~
When I saw this cute elephant pitcher I knew he needed to come home with me, I did not need to think twice about it as I tend do do with other items I just thought it was so cute & the angels will enjoy having their oj poured from this cutie~
LOOK, It still had the price tag on and it looks like it was never used because it was not submersed in liquid to be washed as the tag is still intact~
This is what it was priced at! LOVE IT~
I was not able to resist this adorable baby pumpkin, I know I should be looking for Easter, spring-ie things but I know I will use this baby in the fall it was priced at .79~
I am a sucker for frames, especially if I am able to do something different with them like making them into  chalk boards, adding something pretty in the middle or heck I could just add a nice
photo as it's intended use~
It was marked $1.99 so into the buggy it went~
~Thrilled~ I was when I spotted this little tray.  It was covered in some sticky dirty fingerprints no scratches so it was a must buy~
Are you able to see who the designer is?  Ralph Lauren!
Yea for me, okay yea for my husband I thought he could use it to put his keys, wallet, business cards or change he has in his pockets at the end of the day~
 I know right?  $2.99?
This little stand has a concave middle, it looks like perhaps it was made for a sphere, ball or something circular not sure what I will use it for but it was marked $1.00~
I normally do not buy shoes at thrift stores but I saw these & thought maybe I would be able to sell them after all they are Prada~
When I spotted them I was only able to see the 'ADA' and I thought are these Prada I picked them up & sure enough PRADA~
They do not look all that stylish in the pictures but I tried them on (after I sanitized them) & they look great, the only thing is they do not fit me they must be a size 7- 71/2.  Oh well, my loss is someone else's gain~
This was the first time I was able to receive a discount since I just turned 50 a few months back  I received 25% off my entire purchase, I think that is the only benefit one receives from turning 'older'~

A Little Nip & Tuck

I have not sewn anything in quite some time but I bought some tops at the thrift store and knew I would be able to breath newlife into them to fit ME and my taste.  I must admit I was leery at my lack of experience, but decided to jump in with both feet and give it a try after all I only paid a few dollars for each top.  My sewing machine was already dusted off since I used it to sew my Christmas sachets so that part was ready to go~
Now to muster up enough courage to nip & tuck these tops.        This cute top was a 3x I love the pattern and the light gauzy feeling it has, I thought it would be good for spring. This is what it started out like.  It looked like it had sprouted wings at the hip making the hips look larger then what they truly are~
I fixed that PDQ, it actually took me several go rounds trying to remove these wings but I finally got them off. It was that courage thing or lack thereof. I needed to remember to measure twice cut once ~
This is the pile of scraps I cut from this top, after all it was a 3x.  It is a lot don't you think?~
I cut & measured everything I cut off so that each side matched with each other that included the arms.  This is what I had left a cute 'not so' "little" top~
It just does not get very cold here and if it does it will last a day or so, but still I like to wear sweaters with jeans or tights & when I spotted this cute grey sweater I thought I could cut off the collar and add it to the bottom to cover~ well the bottom...~
So out came the ruler, so that it would be even all the way around again measure twice cut once~
It might appear a bit tight, but it stretched out & I am able to wear it with ease and comfort~
Now, this top I thought I would wear around the house with my yoga pants to clean or do a project, but again it was BIG, a bit too big for me~
In fact it was a 2x and although I like to wear baggy clothes to hide so much ugly, this was very baggy, so again I took out my scissors and cut away ~
And cut away until I had a cute 'little' top fit for a queen person of my size~
I really need to change the date on my camera or remove it all together!
I am not sure when I am going to give this another go, as it took me a full day to get this done, but I wanted it done before the angels got home from school and I got it done, I just needed to clean up and that took almost no time so I could devote my time to my angels~
Do you sew?
How long has it been?
Will you give it a go soon?

2012 YEAR ONE + MY FAVORITE POSTS

I WAS FEATURED AT:

Featured at Time For You
Atir Inspired Decor is one year old today!  I can not believe it!
I have learned so much from many wonderful ladies out there and I also, know I have so much more to learn but stick with me I'll get there~
It has been so much fun looking back at the year and I see how much I have grown in my posts & what and how I share with you.
Here are my favorite posts from this past year I hope you enjoy looking at them again~
These are my favorite lamps, I bought these at Goodwill and I am so glad I brought them home they were originally whiteish they went through many transformations first silver, gold, cream and finally brown!
Here is my trash gone pretty post, where I show you how I changed this old bakers rack  into a pretty little cubby to house my trash can which is normally just plain & not very attractive.  Not any longer~
My beautiful mothers maiden name means swan. I have a love of swans because of it, these are part of my collection.  They once were clear glass & in this post I show you my addiction to "leafing" I copper leafed these~
Imagine these orange & brown.  I used a Clorox bleach pen to change the color of these pretty flocked cushions which I purchased at my favorite thrift store new & still in their original package for $2.00 each.  I was pleasantly surprised when they turned out green~
I am very proud of this Family Crest that I designed.  It includes my husbands monogram & a symbol from his fathers family crest as well as from his mothers, my fathers crest & mothers too.  It is my dream to design these for other people since they have so much meaning and they include both sides of the family~

This was my fall mantle. It was so pretty I  was really hesitant about removing it but of course I am glad that I finally did because my Christmas mantle was prettier~

Here is the platter turned chalk board I love all the curves on this platter, when I purchased it after Christmas several years ago it was chippy & scratched & now it is so pretty & sits on our bar~
In this post I show you that I hand painted 2 of these rugs & they are still holding up awesome especially since I sprayed them with vinegar (I did not mention that on this post) to help set them & keep them from fading & bleeding~

Awh...Our best work yet!  My husband & I ripped up the carpet & laid down  unfinished wood treads that we stained, bull nosed & painted ourselves. SO much work but SO worth it~
My vintage stool re-do.  I sanded re upholstered & glued this now beauty in one day.  I am so happy how it turned out & we now use it everyday when I cook the angels will sit & watch me or keep me company~

And finally this is my Christmas tree collection that I have collected through out the years, what makes it so special is that my beautiful mommy also collected Christmas trees with me.  I wish I could have some of hers but my father won't let them go~

Thank you, so much for sticking with me through out this year of growth it has been a grand pleasure meeting & making some very special bonds with some of my followers.  I will never forget my very first followers I was thrilled beyond belief and as it grew my heart grew with it, but I  must say I was praying that I would have had at least 100 followers by my first year.  As you can see I don't but the followers I do have I appreciate every singe one of you & I thank you from the bottom of my blogging heart.  Stick with me I know I will only improve & if any of you have ideas, suggestions or comments please let me know I want to post things that people will be drawn to read & see~
