A Little Nip & Tuck

I have not sewn anything in quite some time but I bought some tops at the thrift store and knew I would be able to breath newlife into them to fit ME and my taste.  I must admit I was leery at my lack of experience, but decided to jump in with both feet and give it a try after all I only paid a few dollars for each top.  My sewing machine was already dusted off since I used it to sew my Christmas sachets so that part was ready to go~
Now to muster up enough courage to nip & tuck these tops.        This cute top was a 3x I love the pattern and the light gauzy feeling it has, I thought it would be good for spring. This is what it started out like.  It looked like it had sprouted wings at the hip making the hips look larger then what they truly are~
I fixed that PDQ, it actually took me several go rounds trying to remove these wings but I finally got them off. It was that courage thing or lack thereof. I needed to remember to measure twice cut once ~
This is the pile of scraps I cut from this top, after all it was a 3x.  It is a lot don't you think?~
I cut & measured everything I cut off so that each side matched with each other that included the arms.  This is what I had left a cute 'not so' "little" top~
It just does not get very cold here and if it does it will last a day or so, but still I like to wear sweaters with jeans or tights & when I spotted this cute grey sweater I thought I could cut off the collar and add it to the bottom to cover~ well the bottom...~
So out came the ruler, so that it would be even all the way around again measure twice cut once~
It might appear a bit tight, but it stretched out & I am able to wear it with ease and comfort~
Now, this top I thought I would wear around the house with my yoga pants to clean or do a project, but again it was BIG, a bit too big for me~
In fact it was a 2x and although I like to wear baggy clothes to hide so much ugly, this was very baggy, so again I took out my scissors and cut away ~
And cut away until I had a cute 'little' top fit for a queen person of my size~
I really need to change the date on my camera or remove it all together!
I am not sure when I am going to give this another go, as it took me a full day to get this done, but I wanted it done before the angels got home from school and I got it done, I just needed to clean up and that took almost no time so I could devote my time to my angels~
Do you sew?
How long has it been?
Will you give it a go soon?
